RSIS appoints Byron Govender Executive Broker

Reinsurance Solutions Intermediary Services has expanded its broker team in Johannesburg with the appointment of Byron Govender to the position of Executive Broker. Govender is based at the firm's Woodmead offices from where he will serve clients across the country.

Cameron Cupido, RSIS CEO and Executive Director Indian Ocean Islands, Reinsurance Solutions Mauritius, says Govender will play a vital role in helping the company pursue its growth targets.

"As an Executive Broker based in our Johannesburg office, Byron will be responsible for the day-to-day broking of existing business as well as pursuing new business opportunities in South Africa. This, as we continue to grow our local book of business," explains Cupido.

An experienced reinsurance broker with a passion for relationship and project management, Govender brings to his new role a strong customer-centric approach.

"My work journey started at grassroots level where I was able to observe clients and their needs, and how solutions were created to service those needs. Over the years I have developed an innate understanding for what clients want, and require, and how to create value propositions around that," explains Govender.

Govender's previous positions included technical reinsurance accountant and junior broker at AON Benfield; reinsurance specialist at Hollard Insurance Company; and senior reinsurance broker at Gallagher Re.

He holds a BCom Degree (Economics & Finance, 2013) and a post-graduate degree in Insurance & Risk Management (2014), both from the University of Witwatersrand.
