Cameron Cupido

CEO - Southern Africa

Cameron's vision has always been to head up a powerful regional player in African reinsurance.

Today he does just that, guiding a specialist team of brokers within one of South Africa's few majority black-owned reinsurance companies in providing solutions for clients across Southern Africa.

He is also responsibile for the Mauritian and Indian Ocean Islands market, where he develops and maintains the group's portfolio of business in this region. He oversees a producing broker team in Mauritius that services Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar, and Reunion Island. 

Previous positions include stints in treaty underwriting and broking with Munich Re, Aon Benfield and Willis Re, and 2 years in London as a Lloyds broker.

He has strong solutions-focused technical and brokering skills, and solid treaty pricing, structuring and placement expertise.

Cameron holds a BSc in Mathematics (2001) from Wits University and is an associate member of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (AMASSA).

Thato Raboroko

Head of Analytics

Thato is passionate about using actuarial and analytics tools to influence business decisions within organisations, with the purpose of driving innovation and profitable growth.

He takes a solutions-oriented approach to business challenges, specifically new product development and remediating poor performing entities and lines of business.

In his role as Head of Analytics he assesses client risk, using our highly specialised risk software to help primary insurers identify the best reinsurance options that maximise capital returns when ceding risk.

He has a BSC in Economic Science (with Actuarial Science and Mathematical Statistics) from Wits University (2014) and is a member of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (TASSA).

Blessing Chiguye

Executive: Southern African & Lusophone Markets

Blessing focuses on business development in the Southern African and Lusophone countries, acting as the primary contact point for existing and new clients in these markets.

He has extensive knowledge of the African reinsurance and insurance markets, specifically treaty design and structuring, and facultative reinsurance placements. He also has an excellent track record for building solid client relationships.

Blessing holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Risk Management and Insurance (2012) from the National University of Science and Technology (Zimbabwe), and a Diploma in Insurance (2014) from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII, UK). He is working towards Advanced Status with CII.

Byron Govender

Byron Govender

Executive Broker

Byron is an experienced reinsurance broker with a passion for relationship and project management, and driving revenue in new markets through his personalised, customer-centric approach.

As an Executive Broker based in the RSIS Johannesburg office, he is responsible for the day-to-day broking of existing business as well as pursuing new business opportunities in South Africa.

His previous posts included technical reinsurance accountant and junior broker at AON Benfield; reinsurance specialist at Hollard Insurance Company; and senior reinsurance broker at Gallagher Re.

Byron holds a BCom Degree (Economics & Finance, 2013) and a post-graduate degree in Insurance & Risk Management (2014), both from the University of Witwatersrand.

 

Daisy Piemontese

Broker

Daisy is responsible for the day-to-day broking of existing business and driving new business opportunities across key markets in Southern Africa.

She has close to 10 years' insurance industry experience, previously having worked in non-life underwriting at Global Alliance Seguros - Insurance in Mozambique.

Daisy holds a Diploma in Financial and Banking Management from the Institute of Banking Training of Mozambique (2013).

She has also completed a Certification in Short-Term Insurance Commercial (COM) from the Learning Academy of South Africa (2020), a Certification in Insurance and Re-insurance from the London School of Insurance & African Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re) (2021), and is currently completing a Diploma in Insurance with the Zimbabwe Insurance Institute.

 

Rui Napita

Assistant Broker

Rui has an affinity for data, analysis and technical information. He draws on this in collecting and analysing data for risk transfer solutions, and in providing technical guidance regarding facultative and treaty placements.

He has extensive experience in, and knowledge of, insurance underwriting and claims in Southern Africa. This underscores his approach to developing and maintaining existing client relationships, as well as identifying new business prospects.

Previous experience in seed genetics and agricultural production have also given Rui a good understanding of agri businesses operating in Africa, and the challenges faced by the firms that insure them.

Broker Assistant

With an eye for detail, an affinity for customer service and a natural flair for organising people and paperwork, Tyrese plays a vital support role at RSIS.

As broker assistant she provides administrative and operational support to brokers, manages client accounts, prepares our important documentation, and co-ordinates transactions, ensuring smooth communication between clients and brokers.

Tyrese's previous positions include a stint at Hollard Group Risk.
